		Lamm's “golden snail series”, one of which is shown to the left, are ingenious three-in-one creations offering one surprise after another. “I think of them as mummy cases to house and honor one of the most beautiful objects in nature: rare seashells which are the skeletal remains of the dead mollusk and combining them with two of the oldest, most coveted materials by man: gold and gems. The results are stylized golden snails. I got the idea while diving off the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.” Today they are in private collections or museums.
